2016 and another New Year is right around the corner. People stay so busy during this holiday season, but the wise are also thinking about the New Year. Asking themselves questions like “Do I want the New Year to look different than the last year, 3 years and 5 years?” If so- then something needs to change. The definition of Insanity is: “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” New Years Resolutions don’t work because people aren’t actually creating systems to CHANGE. They’re just saying what they’d like to change. Those are 2 different things.

3 steps to the Perfect Vision Board and 3 pitfalls to avoid:

FullSizeRender_1Step 1: Get Clear on your goals.

The reason most vision boards fail to even work for you is because you probably randomly picked out images. Before you even get to the images, it’s important to get clear on your goals. Ask yourself questions. Part of goal setting that can also help you is grouping your life goals into different categories like: Health, Family, Self Care, Travel, etc.  (If you download the free cheat sheet you will actually get my goal setting guide as part of this as well)

Step 2: Affirmations Affirmations Affirmations.

So you did your vision board before, or you want to, and all these lovely images come to mind. But what words are you feeding your brain every day? Are you only allowing positivity in your mind, in your mouth and to your eyes? Part of becoming who you dream is positive affirmations on a daily basis. Here’s a link to some of my favorite affirmations on my Pinterest board to get you started.

Now that you’ve figured out what Goals You Are setting for yourself, what positive affirmations you’re committed to repeating every day- it’s time to pick out some images to match your intentional dreams and affirmations! See how this is all coming together?

I personally recommend printing images from your computer and/or buying magazines that are in line with your goals. For example I usually pick up Shape magazine Travel Magazines and Sunset Magazine as I love health, traveling and decorating. So if you still go the magazine route- you can still be intentional with your images.

Another favorite resource I love is the Hay House Vision Board App. I actually use this app to create different goals of mine then I PRINT from the app and put the specific images and affirmations on my vision board- or as you can see from the picture up top- I also put the images in the back of my Freedom Planner so that I take it all with me!
